Waumba Land
Swahili for "Land of the Creator"
Waumba Land is an engaging and safe place where your preschool children experience God's love for them and are cared for in small groups. We know that young children learn and grow in amazing ways. Every Sunday, we take advantage of this unique time in their development to introduce them to God.
We believe nothing is more important than for children to begin to understand who God is. We want them to know Him as their Creator, their Heavenly Father, and their Friend. Our goal is for all preschoolers to master three key truths before they leave Waumba Land.
In Waumba Land, kids learn:
1. God loves them.
2. God made them.
3. Jesus wants to be their friend forever!
Curriculum
Waumba Land curriculum is centered on the three basic truths listed above. It is adapted from the First Look curriculum.
Sunday Morning in Waumba Land
Children are welcomed in to small groups. If it is your first Sunday with us, the Host Team will assist you in getting your child(ren) registered in the database, explain our security system, and escort you to the classroom.
Group leaders divide the time into several segments:
Make It Fun
This is the first activity of the morning and is designed to grab their attention.
Bible Story
Kids hear a creative presentation of a Bible story and participate in worship, where they are encouraged to sing loudly, dance, and interact with their leaders.
Small Group Environment
Following worship and story time, children are encouraged to talk about what they've learned that day and what it means to them. They pray together and learn to talk to God. During the last part of the morning, kids participate in several creative and fun hands-on activities designed to emphasize the key truth of the day.
Out of Harm's Way
- Waumba Land is open every Sunday 20 minutes prior to worship service. Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions - we want you to be comfortable! Our desire is to create an engaging, irresistable environment for your preschooler, and nothing is more important than their safety.
- Child care workers and small group leaders are all carefully trained and screened to ensure the safest environment possible.
- All entrances to Waumba Land are secure and monitored.
- You and your child will receive corresponding numbered security tags. You must present your portion of the tag when you pick up your child - no exceptions!
- Using the number on your tag, we are able to notify you during service (on screen) if your child is having any problems.
