"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these ... you did for me."
Matthew 25:40
Education || Advocacy || Action
MOSAIC is an adoption | foster | orphan care ministry of Northpoint that exists to encourage and equip the community of believers to embrace adoption, foster parenting and international orphan care.
In James 1:27, caring for orphans in their distress is given as the very definition of pure religion. We believe that God calls each and every one of us to play a role. That doesn't mean that everyone is meant to adopt; in fact, the worldwide orphan crisis is too large a problem to handle by adoption alone. MOSAIC exists to equip believers to carry out their individual roles. Our goals are to educate - not only about the problem, but about real solutions. We advocate for those who do not have a voice. And we demonstrate our obedience to God's call with action.
The statistics can be overwhelming - there are over half a million 'social orphans' in the U.S. foster care system. There are 143 million orphans worldwide. How do you even wrap your head around that number ? - that's nearly half the population of the United States! Not only are the numbers huge, they are increasing at a staggering rate. In the next HOUR, 1,625 children will be forced to live on the streets through death or abuse of an adult, 1,667 children under age five will die from malnutrition and vaccine-preventable diseases, 115 children will become prostitutes, 66 children will become infected with HIV, and 257 children will be orphaned due to AIDS.
It can be too easy to justify inaction by the enormity of the problem - "I'm just one person - how could I possibly make a difference?" But we are not being asked to solve the whole problem - just to do our part.
I am only one; But still I am one.
I cannot do everything; But still I can do something.
And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do."
-- Edward Everett
The mission of MOSAIC is to educate others about the orphan crisis, to advocate for those without a voice, and to equip those who feel called to do their part, so that they are empowered to make a real difference in the world.
If you have questions about adoption or foster care, MOSAIC ministry leaders - with personal experience in both adoption and foster care - are eager to answer your questions and provide information in a relaxed, pressure-free environment.
